One of the great things about being Wedding Planners is that every wedding has a unique spin, a different couple, a different story, a different day.
1 Feb 2020 saw our first surprise wedding! The lovely bride and groom had different ideas about what they wanted out of a wedding day, he wanted to elope, she wanted a big wedding. The compromise... well an engagement party that turned into a wedding!
The couple organised the details of their engagement party themselves, we offered advice on a few things but they planned the big party. We were left to ensure the ceremony was planned and kept a secret.
They hired the Pataua North recreation centre for the engagement party, and wanted the wedding across the road on the estuary/beach in the early evening. The plan was to get all the guests down to the beach for some photos and speeches.
We arrived to set up as the guests were arriving, but the bride had created a decoy sign pronouncing another couples wedding to throw people off. We set up the beach ceremony as the guests partied on unsuspecting. At 6pm they were ushered down to the beach with the now real sign declaring they were now going to witness the wedding of the lovely couple! While the guests found their seats the bridal party got dressed into their wedding clothes and arrived down at the beach.
The ceremony was beautiful, everyone was so excited and overjoyed to be there, most guests truely had no idea and it was wonderful to be part of such a fun filled evening.
